Start preparing before a flood happens

Make a list of what needs to be moved to safety during a flood

Agree where to go in the event of a flood and how to contact family members

If you can, keep any valuable documents and mementos upstairs

Complete the flood plan and keep it in a safe place

Prepare a flood kit with items such as:

• A torch
• Wind up radio
• Clean/bottled water and non-perishable foods
• Any baby care/food products
• First aid kit with any prescription medication
• Any important documents (kept in a water proof bag)
• Copy of Flood Plan
• Wellington boots
• Warm waterproof clothing
• Blankets
• Wash kit and essential toiletries (including toilet paper and wet wipes)
• Emergency cash
• Rubber gloves
• Spare batteries
